Kamal and the Car

One of our first decisions about our three weeks in India was that we would hire a car with a driver rather than utilize trains and buses to get around Rajasthan. Up until this point, with the exception of our rental car in Argentina, we have relied exclusively on buses and other means of public transportation to get around. Friends and other travelers who went to India recently all recommended a car for us. It was surprisingly economical, especially given the fact that we were 5 people, and gave us the freedom to come and go when we wanted to and stop along the way for pictures, chai tea, bathrooms, etc. Our driver Kamal (owner of Yatri Tour - www.yatriindiatour.com - www.facesofindia.com/kamal) came to us by recommendation from Ken and Leslie - thanks! We spent so much time with Kamal and in the car that they deserve their own entry in our “Where We Stayed” column. Kamal was a valuable resource with excellent knowledge about Rajasthan and kept us safe on the roads. We did need to close our eyes a few times, but hey, that’s driving in India!
Here are a few pictures.
