Hosteria Papagayo - Machachi, Ecuador

Here is where we stayed for two nights when we did a tour of the Quilatoa Lake, a spectacular lake inside of a volcanic crater. The hosteria is in a 150 year old house about 500m off of the Pan American Highway. Andres and his family dropped us off after our trip to Volcan Antisana. The day we left we walked out to the highway and flagged down a Quito bound bus, which we wouldn’t have been able to do just 30 days ago. Our comfort zone with travel, at least in Ecuador, is much greater than it was on our arrival.
