Robyn and I met you all when we shared the Routeburn and Caples Tracks in New Zealand and really enjoyed the experience. You are great Ambassadors for your country. We noticed in a later report from New Zealand that you travelled from the Coromndel to Rotorua; in doing so you must have passed within kicking distance of our home on Waihi Beach. Sorry we didn't know that as we would have loved to show you some real Kiwi hospitality but I can understand that you were under increasing pressure to get moving to another country and fresh challenges.

As a family you are to be congratulated on completing this odyssey in such good health and with only a minor glitch in Venice to upset you - you even got home, I think, before the inconvenient truth of Swine flu hit- although the impact of that seems to be somewhat exagerated.

I hope that you will continue this blog for a while yet to let us know how you all settle back into your daily routines - not an easy task I surmise. Tell youtr uncle I still get my Bethlehem Steel Pension and hope to continue doing so for many years yet

Best wishes to the whole family from Don and Robyn Young

Dear Amazing Family of the World!

We just returned late last night from several weeks in Michigan, and logged on to learn that you are Stateside! Somehow I had in my head that you were coming back after us, so I am just thrilled to learn that you are all actually home, safe and sound!!

I refuse to even think about the loss of your photos, because that is a sad loss for all of us who longed to see more pictorial details of your year traveling the world. I am simply focused on the fact that what truly matters is your extraordinary *experience*! Photos are really a triviality in comparison to that...

We will revel in your stories and will close our eyes and paint pictures in our heads as you describe your memories. After all, it is really the memories that matter, and no one can ever, ever take those away from you. (And I will just mention that memories have SOOOOO many more dimensions than photos! Smells, tastes, sounds, tactile sensations....these are just some of the things you never captured in your photos anyway.)

So, when you are back in town and have your American legs back on, know that the Johnsons can't wait to have you over for a meal and a night filled with stories of adventure! YOU DID IT, DUGAN-ST. CLAIRS! You achieved the ultimate goal of having the adventure of a lifetime AND bringing everyone home intact! Well done!!!!

Love to you all,
Jen and crew

Dear all,

I guess you have met so many people during your travel that you won't remember us.
We, Vincent and Jana from the Netherlands, have met you in Peru, we were on the same bus that broke down and on the same boat on Lake titicaca.
We got the website from John and we have read your stories the last year with much pleasure.
And you have been a real inspiration to us: in September we will take a 6 month sabbatical and go on our own exploration of the marble.
Thank you very much for sharing these great stories with us!

I just have to say to you, John and Kelli, that you are amazing parents, and spectacular travelers, steadfast to your commitment to lead your family safely through amazing, hidden regions of this world we all only dream about. And thank you for sharing this story, I guess I am one of the many (privileged) who couldn't wait for your next posting. Many blessings to all of you.

Hello St. Claires, I see that you are well on your way to completing what looks like an amazing trip. So many sights, so many experiences, how will it all coalesce when you finish it up? There will never be any lack of discussion at your dining room table, I suspect. We have about 6 weeks left here in Ecuador and have had our own amazing and challenging experiences. So we are most impressed with your experiences walking around the marble.

hey its Grace, I hope you guys have had fun so far. It sure does sound like it... And I was wondering if, when you get back, Ainsley was considering trying out for soccer in the fall with silver or gold. I have made silver again and we are in need of good defenders, and I really have missed the company of Ainsley on our team... I am sure that the coaches will be scouting because our numbers were low in tryouts (only 32 people, barely enough to make two teams and not everyone made it!!!!). Once again my question for you Ainsley is : are you considering trying out in one of our summer practices when you get back from you amazing and interesting around the world trip? if you are please respond to me at my email adress, jeepog9@gmail.com

All that gorgeous blue. I loved the pita being cooked in a bath of olive oil. That's the trick to the mediterranean diet. pools of olive oil. Yum.

Hugs to all.
